COUNSELING & COACHING

Kevin Elliott

I’m a firm believer that we were never meant to experience life alone, and that talking to a counselor is something nearly everyone can benefit from at some point in their lives. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Social Work, both from the University of Illinois. Although I’ve worked with clients of all ages and backgrounds, my sweet spot tends to be with adolescents and young adults. My favorite part of being a counselor is helping people deepen their understanding of what it means to live a meaningful life. I engage my clients in a process of self-assessment and self-understanding that helps them grow, thrive, and, ultimately, have a positive impact on their world. I view my work as an extension of my Christian faith - I believe God delights in providing healing, clarity, and restoration in the midst of pain, confusion, and brokenness.

INDIVIDUAL & MARRIAGE COUNSELING

One aspect I love about counseling is seeing how intricately each person is wired. As Scripture confirms, we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139: 14). The elements of our personalities, experiences, and beliefs intertwine to influence how we think, feel, and act, making each individual’s journey deeply personal and complex. With a BA in Communication from Purdue, an MA in Counseling from Lincoln Christian University, as well as experience working alongside ministries and non-profits, my hands-on experience has only strengthened my passion to support and encourage individuals and families. My goal as a counselor is to create a safe, compassionate space where each person feels truly seen and understood. I strive to then offer the necessary tools to help individuals move forward on their path to healing. Utilizing many principles of trauma-informed care, I draw on a variety of therapeutic techniques to ensure that each person receives the individualized care needed.

INDIVIDUAL & MARRIAGE COUNSELING

I know from personal experience that the decision to seek counseling can be difficult, but incredibly beneficial. I truly believe, and have come to expect, that change is possible for everyone. I received my bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Illinois and my master’s degree in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. I've worked in several Christian ministry roles, including campus and pastoral ministry, and overseas church planting. If my training didn’t make it obvious, I’m a Christian. That means I love Jesus and believe God has a plan of redemption He’s working out in your life. My faith informs my approach to counseling, but I’ve seen and helped many clients who do not share my beliefs. Wherever you find yourself in life, I’d be honored to play a role in your story.

INDIVIDUAL & MARRIAGE COUNSELING

Kelsey Abiera

I’ve always loved a good book, finding myself fascinated by complex characters, their connections to one another, and how they develop through the challenges they face. This love of story eventually led me to study psychology and then therapy; I received my undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Illinois and my graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Wheaton College. In therapy, I strive to view each client as a unique individual who has been shaped by their past, and yet has the potential to actively transform their present and future. I work with a wide range of ages and presenting issues, with a special focus on couples therapy and trauma work. Each session with me should feel like a two-way collaboration towards your goals, enabling you to take steps towards both autonomy and connection as you navigate your own story.
